My brother, Mark, works with a non-profit organization called the Legal Action Center (LAC). According to the LAC’s website the organization “is the only non-profit law and policy organization in the United States whose sole mission is to fight discrimination against people with histories of addiction, HIV/AIDS, or criminal records, and to advocate for sound public policies in these areas … The Legal Action Center is committed to helping people reclaim their lives, maintain their dignity, and participate fully in society as productive, responsible citizens.”
Mark has made it his life’s work to speak on behalf of a group that has largely been ignored. Please read the information below about the National Criminal Justice Commission Act, which is currently awaiting approval by the Senate. Explaining the Act and its importance, Mark told me, “Our coalition of supporters includes far-right groups like law enforcement, lobby and religious organizations all the way to far-left drug policy reformers and the NAACP. It will be a real shame if this doesn’t pass because it will help by creating a more humane and socially conscience system and by saving us money and keeping us safer.”
I hope you can take a moment out of your busy day to make a quick phone call on behalf of people seeking a second chance and to make our communities safer, improve our criminal justice system and save taxpayer money.
Your support means a lot to me, my brother and my family, so please pass this along! Thanks!
